GCSE Science

The GCSE Science courses changed in September 2017 to follow the 9-1 structure of the new GCSE Maths and English courses – again, all change for students! We have specialist biology, chemistry and physics teachers so whichever of the sciences your son or daughter is finding tricky we can help them out.

GCSE science students can choose each week what area they want to work on with their tutor, so we can support the work they are doing in class and ensure we follow the exact curriculum the students are working on in class. Most of the schools in our area follow either Edexcel or AQA science and so we have all the exam board specific materials and revision guides at the Centre.

Some students want to work on science and maths or English and in many cases we can arrange their lessons so they do alternate weeks with a science tutor and then a maths/English tutor. I thought I should email you to say what a truly transforming educational experience Ben had upon joining St Ives Tutoring Centre. Within 6 weeks he was a different boy - his reading, writing and maths all improving dramatically and what’s more he also enjoyed it. He has continued to go from strength to strength. I thought I'd let you know that Georgia passed all of the GCSE's that she sat and she did very well in English, maths and science. She got a 6 for maths and English language, a 5 in English literature and a B in science. We're so happy for her and proud of how well she did. She is also very happy that she will not have to do any re-sits.
